Maura Rainey, M.A, CPhil
About
Maura León Rainey brings expertise, dedication, and energy to the Department of Languages and Cultures. She is a native speaker from Cuba and before her instructorship position at UCCS, she taught high school Spanish at Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 and Academy School District 20 where her teaching efforts were recognized at the local and state levels.
As a Senior Instructor at UCCS she has taught various levels of Spanish, ranging from Elementary Spanish 1010 to Spanish 4250, Latin American Culture and Civilization. In addition, she was instrumental in establishing the “Círculo de Español” on campus and served as sponsor of the club for four years. Since 2013 she has co-sponsored the Omega Tau Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society.
Education
Maura León Rainey has a B.S. in Education, an M.A. in Romance Languages and all but dissertation for a PhD in Romance Languages from the University of Alabama.
